AquaFrost™ System
Thanks to innovations made by Brampton Engineering, it is now possible
to make commercial multilayer blown film at output rates that can
match cast film rates. Most significantly, film produced on Brampton
Engineering's AquaFrost(™) system matches the clarity of cast film.
Because it is blown film, AquaFrost film has an additional advantage
over cast film - balanced orientation. AquaFrost film is also thermoformable
to the same extent that cast film is thermoformable. The AquaFrost
system is a downward blown film line which uses an AquaRing to quickly
cool the molten polymer. The 5-layer production scale AquaFrost line
at Brampton's Blown Film Technology Center operates at 37 lbs/hr/inch
of die circumference (2.1 kg/hr/mm die diameter. Brampton has two
customers with operating AquaFrost lines. Brampton Engineering will
feature their AquaFrost System at NPE 2003. Visitors will be able
see a variety of samples of AquaFrost film.
